12/28/2023 0 Comments Hey there delilah lyrics rod wave^also proves it's a long distance relatiosnhip. Our friends would all make fun of us, and we'll just laugh along because we know that none of them have felt this way" "A thousand miles seems pretty far but they've got planes and trains and cars, I'd walk to you if I had no other way When they're together they're inseperable and everyone thinks it's so cheesy that they are so in love with eachother but they know that people can't understand what they're feeilng because they haven't found that someone yet, yet again hence: "Hey there Delilah, I've got so much left to say, if every simple song I wrote to you would take your breath away, I'd write it allĮven more in love with me you'd fall, we'd have it all" He'd also do anything for her to love him more than ever: I'm right there if you get lonely, give this song another listenĬlose your eyes, listen to my voice, it's my disguise, I'm by your side" "Hey there Delilah, don't you worry about the distance, Whenever she misses him she has this song they share to refer back to but she also can only hear his voice over the phone and has to close her eyes and imagine him next to her hence, Though he can't see her he knows she's beautiful at all times to him. Time Square can't shine as bright as you, I swear it's true" "Oh it's what you do to me" and "I'm a thousand miles away but girl, tonight you look so pretty, yes you do This song is about dating a girl long distance that you're most definately in love with. I don't wish that pain of separation on me or anyone else, but the loving bond this song expresses brings it close to my heart.and makes it incredibly successful as a bittersweet piece. The singer's voice gracefully communicates that longing commitment, and the track as a whole captures the deep aching and drive one person can have for another. This song resounds with the hope and struggle of working through a long-distance relationship. These people, the guy at least, are trying their best to make their love work, despite the momentous obstacles of time and space. We don't know the girl's feelings on the situation, and while we can guess that the relationship's mutual, there's a lot of pain and doubt involved no matter what. Sure, it does express a deep affection across many miles, from this fellow's point of view. I don't find this song to be cute or adorable, and I surely don't want to be in Delilah's place, a place full of doubts and fears over what could happen to her far-reaching relationship. Two more years and you'll be done with school Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitarīut they've got planes and trains and carsĪnd we'd just laugh along because we'd know the fans that feel him.Times Square can't shine as bright as you Song’s Title (“By Your Side”)Īnd as for the title, it is actually sampled from another track, as noted in the bottom of this post. So it may not have any particular context per se, rather being an element that the composers added because it sounds cool.īut both the verse and chorus commence by sorta alluding to the notion of Rod being on the move, presumably touring or what have you. So the title, as utilized, can also be interpreted like even though he may not be physically present, Wave’s music still puts him ‘by the side’ of the listener, i.e. Indeed Wave’s “daddy was a gangster”, and the vocalist “fell in love with guns” at the time he became a teenager, so it’s like hustling is in his blood. And we are presuming this is the kind of lifestyle he lived pre-musical fame, either that or he’s still out in the ‘hood, doing his thing to this very day.īut that said, we know that hip-hop is a genre that idealizes rappers being true-to-life, yet at the same time they occasionally embellish things a bit. Or another way of interpreting that ‘hood aspect of the song is as Rod representing in the studio as he did in the street, so to speak. “street running” throughout the entire week. Rather it is implied that he’s akin to a drug dealer, i.e. You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Rod Wave's By Your Side at .īut the lyrical implication isn’t that Rod made it big through the music industry, as he has actually done.
